The Warren Township is a highly sought-after suburb in Somerset County, New Jersey. Embraced by expansive, serene, and lush spaces, it’s a genuine breath of fresh air, an escape from the city, and an ideal place to call home. It has around 16,000 residents according to 2015 estimates.
Named after Revolutionary hero Joseph Warren, this 19-square-mile area has always been a desirable locale among the affluent. It’s approximately 35 miles to New York City, making it a favorite bedroom community for those who work in the big city. Accessibility is no problem as the township is positioned between major thoroughfares, Route 22, Route 78, and Route 287.
Warren’s wide-open spaces mean you’ll find many parks and preserves, playgrounds, athletic fields, country clubs and golf courses, and equestrian attractions here. The northwestern ridge of the Watchung Mountains cuts across Warren, providing scenic views.
Although it chooses to maintain its rural character, Warren is home to more than 600 businesses. A Township Master Plan keeps commercial and industrial establishments limited to three main streets – Mount Bethel Road, Mountain Boulevard, and Stirling Road.
Warren’s school system is one of the township’s best features. The Warren Township Schools serve nearly 3,000 pre-kindergarten to eighth-grade students. High school students attend the Watchung Hills Regional High School, which also serves kids from neighboring Watchung, Green Brook, and Long Hill.
The Raritan Valley Community College in nearby Branchburg is well-known. The township is also close to the nation’s Ivy League schools.
Warren is well-known as a desirable, upscale locale where luxury homes rise from spacious and lush plots of land. Warren real estate also offers a more exciting and diverse range of property options. Points of interest
Mount Bethel Meetinghouse
Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the Meetinghouse is a historic church and war burial grounds built in 1761. It was disassembled in 1785 and moved to its current location on King George Road.
Wagner Farm Arboretum
Established in 2001 when the township purchased the Wagner Farm, the arboretum preserves Warren’s rich natural resources and promotes healthy recreation. It features a “Giving Garden” that grows more than 10,000 pounds of fresh produce every year.
Warrenbrook Golf Course
The former private club is run by the Warren Park Commission. It features a challenging course which is hilly and heavily tree-lined and encompasses a portion of the Second Watchung Mountain Ridge.
